Nitrox Benefits:

Extended Bottom Time: Enriched Air Nitrox allows for longer no-decompression limits, beneficial for extending deep dives without increasing risk.

Reduced Nitrogen Absorption: Nitrox minimizes nitrogen absorption, reducing the risk of decompression sickness, a crucial consideration in deep diving.

Enhanced Safety Margin: With a lower percentage of nitrogen in the breathing mix, divers have an increased safety margin, particularly during repetitive dives at depth.

Quicker Surface Intervals: Nitrox decreases post-dive fatigue, enabling shorter surface intervals and quicker readiness for subsequent dives.

Overdue review, but still remember the positive experience of the PADI Nitrox Course with PSA end of 2018. The e-Learning was fantastic and allowed me to go straight out on the boat diving nitrox. The instructor quizzed me during the dive trip and show me how to analyze the air supply. Enjoyed a nice long wreck dive on 33%! See You Next Trip.

FAQ - PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) Course

What is the PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) course?

The PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) course is a specialized scuba diving course that teaches divers how to safely plan and dive with enriched air nitrox. Enriched air nitrox contains a higher percentage of oxygen and a lower percentage of nitrogen compared to regular air, allowing for longer no-decompression limits, shorter surface intervals, and reduced nitrogen absorption during dives.

The course is open to certified divers who have at least a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or an equivalent certification from another recognized agency). and are aged 15 years or older.

Diving with enriched air nitrox offers several benefits, including:

  • Extended bottom times, allowing for longer dives within no-decompression limits.
  • Shorter surface intervals between dives, enabling more frequent diving.
  • Reduced nitrogen uptake, which can decrease the risk of decompression sickness.
  • Potentially less fatigue after multiple dives in a day due to lower nitrogen absorption.

Our Nitrox course at Scuba Adventures stands out because it is a wet diving course, which means we combine comprehensive theoretical learning and practical gas analysis with actual dives using enriched air nitrox. While the wet dives are not a mandatory requirement for the PADI Enriched Air Diver certification, we believe that incorporating these dives into the course provides the best training and learning experience. By diving with nitrox during the course, you gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting, enhancing your understanding and confidence in using enriched air nitrox safely and effectively.

  • Nitrox extends bottom times and reduces nitrogen absorption in deep and wreck diving.
  • Understanding Nitrox is vital for improving diving skills and exploring challenging environments.
  • Technical divers use Nitrox for precise gas blends, ensuring safety during long dives.

The Nitrox course is one of the specialties needed for the Master Scuba Diver rating. To get this rating, you do five specialty courses, log 50 dives, and have a Rescue Diver certification. Learning Nitrox boosts your skills and lets you stay longer underwater, getting you closer to the top level of diving training, the Master Scuba Diver rating.
