What’s Involved in the PADI Dive Instructor Course (IDC)?

The PADI Dive Instructor Course, also known as the Instructor Development Course (IDC), is the cornerstone of PADI professional instructor training. You can start with an IDC preparation course before moving on to the PADI IDC Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Often, both the IDC Prep and the main IDC training are combined to provide comprehensive pro diver training, significantly enhancing your chances of passing the Instructor Examination (IE).

Not Just a Dive Instructor!

During the IDC program, you will also train as an Emergency First Response Instructor, a prerequisite for becoming a PADI OWSI. This additional certification is integrated into the IDC schedule.

Training at IDC Pattaya, Thailand

Pattaya is a prime location for professional dive training, offering excellent local reefs and shipwrecks as training grounds. Thousands have trained here, benefiting from small, dedicated team classes that prepare you for the PADI Instructor Examinations, held four times a year in Pattaya. This environment will give you the confidence to start your career as a dive professional.

Who Will I Train With?

Professional training is all about teamwork. Three premier dive centers in Pattaya have collaborated to create an exceptional pro diver training program. Along with Pattaya Dive Centre and Seafari, we offer an A-list of Divemaster and Dive Instructor trainers, ranging from PADI IDC Staff Instructors to PADI Course Directors. We also have Technical Dive Instructor trainers, but that’s for advanced training later on.
